Turkey on Friday detained two alleged intelligence operatives working on behalf of the United Arab Emirates, the state-run Anadolu news agency reported.

The suspects were arrested as part of a probe by İstanbul prosecutors of alleged espionage by the Gulf state.

Authorities are also looking into whether the suspects have any links to the murder of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi in the Saudi Consulate General in İstanbul on Oct. 2 last year, the report said.
