Must read

Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım has said that European Union (EU) should  revise its vision after the Britain voted to in favor of Brexit.

Speaking to the press on Brexit, Yıldırım said, “I hope the decision they gave was the right one for people of Britain. Our comments on the issue would not mean much. EU, the real respondent of the issue, must evaluate this recent development well and revise it vision for the future. We support the continuity of the EU. Concerns of the British voters must be evaluated carefully. Mr. Cameron used Turkey as an argument [against Brexit], but British people disregarded his statements on the issue.”

When asked about President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s recent statements about the possibility of referendum whether to continue accession negotiations with EU, Yıldırım said, “There is nothing more natural [than Erdoğan’s statements on the issue]. We would do whatever is necessary about it.”

Erdoğan commented on Turkey’s EU accession negotiations during a graduation ceremony of Fatih Sultan Mehmet Foundation University on Wednesday. “Just like United Kingdom, we could also ask our people whether to continue or end negotiations with EU,” Erdoğan said.

Turkey’s Deputy Prime Minister Nurettin Canikli also commented on Brexit on Twitter, saying, “The fragmentation process of the EU has started. Britain was the first to abandon ship.”

“You don’t want to open Pandora’s box… oh but it already has…,” Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Şimşek also tweeted using the hashtag #Brexit.
