Turkey registered 988 new coronavirus cases on Thursday, bringing the total number to 167,410, according to a chart posted on Twitter by Health Minister Fahrettin Koca.
The death toll has reached 4,630 with an increase of 21, the chart indicated.
“The number of tests received in the last 24 hours, including those conducted along with routine medical examinations, is above 54,000,” Koca tweeted, adding that the future of the outbreak would be determined by social compliance with eased preventative measures.
In many Turkish cities wearing a face mask when out in public is compulsory.
Meanwhile, 602 patients are in intensive care countrywide, indicating a decrease of nine from yesterday.
A total of 131,778 people have recovered, according to the health ministry.
