95 percent of Turks are worried about contracting coronavirus: poll

Must read

As Turkey’s officially confirmed COVID-19 cases near the 100,000 mark, 95 percent of participants of an IPSOS poll expressed worry about contracting coronavirus, up from 79 percent a month ago, the T24 news website reported.

The previous survey, which was conducted two days after Turkey’s health ministry announced the country’s first case of COVID-19, had shown that 20 percent of respondents were not worried about themselves or family members contracting the novel coronavirus, which was down to 4 percent by April 13.

When asked what they would think if the authorities were to announce the end of the outbreak, 61 percent said they would suppose it was not over but under control, while only 22 percent said they would believe the official statement.

Turkey’s official COVID-19 death toll has surpassed 2,000, according to Sunday’s figures.
