Two employees of a local customs bureau in Turkey’s Ağrı province died as a result of a terrorist attack on Tuesday that targeted a shuttle carrying bureau personnel, the Diken news website reported.
One staff member died at the scene of the attack. The second death was confirmed on Wednesday by the Ağrı Governor’s Office, which also said 15 local customs employees were wounded.
According to the governor’s office, the attack was carried out by the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), which has been waging a decades-long insurgency in Turkey’s Southeast.
In addition to Ankara, European Union and the United States have designated the PKK as a terrorist organization.
