İzmir Atatürk High School, a prominent secondary schoolol founded in 1888 in the western province of İzmir, has been transferred to the Turkey Youth Foundation (TÜGVA) owned by Bilal Erdoğan, son of Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan, the Gerçekgündem news website reported on Sunday.

The Alumni Association of İzmir Atatürk High School in a statement protested the transfer of the school to Erdoğan’s foundation and said it is not possible for them to accept a decision that is against the secular and democratic education system and which ignores the principles of Atatürk, the founder of modern Turkey.

The Alumni Association said they are going to take legal action against the decision.
