Increased tolls for Turkey’s bridges, highways to be effective as of new year

Hours after the government announced a decrease in the toll for the Osman Gazi Bridge on the Marmara Sea due to complaints from the public, increased tolls were declared for the bridges on İstanbul’s Bosporus and highways across Turkey.

With the price hike, the toll for bridges on the Bosporus will be TL 7 per vehicle starting Jan. 1, amounting to a 48 percent increase. The cost of using highways around the country has jumped by 15 percent.

The 26 percent decrease for the Osman Gazi Bridge connecting Gebze- Orhangazi was announced on Saturday morning, bringing the toll down to TL 65.65.

The minimum monthly wage in Turkey will be TL 1,404 in 2017.

With the increased prices, the fee for the shortest distance on a highway will be TL 2.25 and for the longest, TL 20.
