The first vice president of Iran, Eshaq Jahangiri, has suddenly postponed a visit to Turkey that was scheduled for Monday, local media reported.

Jahangiri gave no reason for the abrupt postponement.

Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım spoke on the phone with Jahangiri on Friday about the crisis in the Syrian city of Aleppo.

İran has been supporting the Bashar Al Assad regime with Russia, while Ankara backs the Syrian opposition.
