Must read

The Turkish military said on Monday its warplanes carried out airstrikes on outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) targets in northern Iraq on Sunday following twin bomb blasts that killed 44 people in İstanbul on Saturday.

According to a written statement from the Turkish army, airstrikes destroyed a headquarters of the militants and surrounding gun positions and shelters in northern Iraq’s Zap region.

Forty-four people, including civilians and police officers, died in twin blasts in İstanbul after explosions took place near Vodafone Arena in Beşiktaş following a match between the Beşiktaş and Bursaspor football teams on Saturday.

More than 40,000 people, including 5,500 security force members, have been killed in four decades of fighting between the Turkish state and the PKK, which is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US and the EU.
