Must read

Turkish police on Monday detained three politicians from the pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) and Democratic Regions Party (DBP) in the southeastern province of Muş.

HDP Muş provincial co-chairperson Ayşegül Söylemez and DBP Muş provincial co-chairperson Hatice Şeker as well as Muş municipal council member Çiçek Tutuş from the ranks of the DBP were detained after police searched the houses and offices of the three politicians. They are facing terrorism charges.

Last week Turkey witnessed the detention of dozens of Kurdish politicians in the country’s Southeast. More than 100 HDP and DBP politicians were detained in operations in Diyarbakır, Van, Hakkari and Bitlis provinces. The politicians are accused of membership in a terrorist organization and aiding and abetting a terrorist organization.
