President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has continued to target main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu due to his remarks about a government minister accused of covering up a child rape scandal in Karaman province, saying the top post of the CHP is “empty” for him.
“The leadership position of the main opposition party is now empty for us. That person [Kılıçdaroğlu] is not present in our eyes. The situation of this person has now been the issue of medicine. I had earlier said, he is a political pervert. Let’s leave that person to his own so that he can struggle in his hole,” Erdoğan said in İstanbul on Saturday.
Erdoğan on Wednesday described Kılıçdaroğlu as a “political pervert” due to his remarks about Family and Social Policies Minister Sema Ramazanoğlu whom Kılıçdaroğlu accused of covering up a child rape scandal in Karaman province.
Speaking at his party’s parliamentary group meeting on Tuesday, Kılıçdaroğlu complained that no state official was showing any interest in the child abuse scandal in Karaman.
“Stand behind the children not the foundations. The governor of [Karaman] does not speak [on the issue]. The education minister does not speak about it, either. The family minister has lied down before some people and never speaks at all.”
Kılıçdaroğlu came under fire from government officials and supporters due to these remarks, with many calling them “inappropriate, offensive and obscene.”
The CHP leader was referring to phone leaks implicating chief Dec. 17 graft probe suspect Reza Zarrab and former Interior Minister Muammer Güler, whose son Barış Güler was among the Dec. 17, 2013 detainees. In the report, speaking to Zarrab, Güler reportedly said
“I would lie down in front of you [to protect you] in case of a probe against you.”
Kılıçdaroğlu on Thursday hit back at President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan who called him a “political pervert” on Wednesday, saying that Erdoğan is both a “political and sexual pervert” himself.
“The address for both sexual perversion and political perversion is Recep Tayyip Erdoğan,” Kılıçdaroğlu said during a speech at the Turkish Doctors Union in Ankara.
