TSK denies rumors of illegal groups, coup preparations in army

Must read

The Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) released a statement on Thursday dismissing rumors of renegade groups in the army and emphasizing its commitment to the rule of law and the Turkish Constitution.

Some pro-government media outlets have recently run stories suggesting that there were some renegade groups in the Turkish military making preparations for a military coup.

In its strongly-worded statement, the TSK underlined the unity and territorial integrity of the nation, noting that it is out of the question for the Turkish military to allow any illegal group in the TSK outside the chain of command.

The statement said news reports and commentaries published by some media outlets about illegal groups in the military are baseless and they cause unease and loss of motivation in the TSK ranks.

The TSK’s statement also said necessary legal action has been taken and a criminal complaint has been filed against those who are behind the news reports and commentaries in question.
