Turkey on Wednesday called for all sides to respect the ceasefire reached between the United States and Iran.

“We emphasize the necessity of the full implementation of the temporary ceasefire on the ground and express our expectation that all parties will adhere to the agreement reached,” the foreign ministry said in a statement.

The United States and Iran agreed to a two-week ceasefire, with talks to finalize a broader peace deal set to begin in Islamabad on Friday.

The truce, announced Tuesday by US President Donald Trump, includes a conditional reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a vital shipping route through which about one-fifth of the world’s oil supply passes.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan joined other world leaders on Wednesday in welcoming the ceasefire but warned of the risk of “possible provocations and sabotage” that could undermine the agreement.

In a post on X, Erdoğan said he hoped the ceasefire would be fully implemented “without giving any opportunity for possible provocations or sabotage.”

Turkey, while a fierce critic of Israel, had joined diplomatic efforts with Egypt and Pakistan to reach a ceasefire in the conflict.

Turkey has meanwhile sent three trucks of medical aid to Iran, Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu announced. The minister said on X that he wanted to “heal the wounds” of the “oppressed.”
