A British man died in Turkey after his paraglider crashed, BBC reported on Friday.
Frank Lally, from Derbyshire in the East Midlands of England, was flying on Tuesday when his paraglider crashed into a cliff near the resort of Ölüdeniz in southwestern Turkey.
Friends of Lally, who was in his 60s, told BBC they were “very shocked” to learn of his death.
The British Hand Gliding and Paragliding Association (BHPA) confirmed that the crash was under investigation.
“We have been informed of the accident, and we will be conducting an investigation,” Ian Currer, a senior technical officer with the BHPA, was quoted by BBC as saying.
Lally was a committee member of the Peak Soaring Association (PSA), which flies over the Peak District, an upland area in England.
Turkey is a popular destination for paragliders.
Turkish media has reported that other paragliders witnessed Lally’s crash and that he was taken to a hospital where he later died.
