Turkey registered 1,172 new coronavirus cases on Thursday, bringing the total number of cases to 203,456, according to a chart posted on Twitter by Health Minister Fahrettin Koca.
The death toll, meanwhile, reached 5,186 with an increase of 19 in the last 24 hours, the chart indicated.
“The average age for patients being treated at hospitals this past week was 46,7, while 11.13 percent of the new coronavirus cases are among people over 65,” Koca tweeted.
A total of 178,278 people have recovered since the beginning of the outbreak in Turkey in mid-March.
In a worrying sign, the number of intensive care patients increased by 15 to 1,082. It has been rising since June 10, when the figure was 631.
The ministry does not disclose the total number of hospitalizations.
Turkey has results from 3,535,818 tests administered so far, the ministry data indicated.
