Turkey’s new coronavirus cases continued to increase on Monday, rising to 1,592 in a single day from 786 on June 2, according to a chart posted on Twitter by Health Minister Fahrettin Koca.
The death toll from coronavirus also increased by 18 to 4,825.
Turkey now has 179,831 coronavirus cases, of which 152,364 have been declared to be recoveries.
The number of patients being treated in intensive care also moved up to 722 from 717 yesterday.
The first case of coronavirus was announced on March 11 by Minister Koca.
Some scientists and doctors warned the public on social media to observe social distancing and to wear a face mask.
The country eased preventative measures at the start of June, opening shopping malls, cafes, restaurants and mosques.
