Turkey’s coronavirus cases increased by 867 to 166,422 on Wednesday, according to a chart posted on Twitter by Health Minister Fahrettin Koca, who ruled out a second wave of the virus.

The death toll has reached 4,609, with 24 deaths in the last 24 hours, the chart indicated.

Turkey has conducted more than 2.155 million tests since the first case was confirmed on March 11.

Total recoveries from COVID-19, meanwhile, have increased to 130,852.

The chart indicated that 612 coronavirus patients are in intensive care, of whom 261 are on ventilators.

Koca held a press conference after his meeting with the scientific board working under the ministry.

“We are still using the anti-malarial drug [hydroxychloroquine],” he told reporters, despite the World Health Organization’s (WHO) advice against it.
