Turkey’s inflation rises to 12.15 percent in January: report

Turkey’s consumer price inflation rose a bit more than expected to 12.15 percent year-on-year in January, the Turkish Statistical Institute said on Monday, climbing for the third consecutive month after a dramatic drop last year.

A Reuters poll forecast annual inflation would remain mostly flat at 11.86 percent in January. In December annual inflation was 11.84 percent.

Month-on-month, consumer prices rose 1.35 percent in January, compared with a poll forecast of a 1.10 percent rise.

The producer price index rose 1.84 percent month-on-month in January for an annual rise of 8.84 percent, the data showed.
