A Samsun couple, both judges who were earlier removed from office over alleged ties to the Gülen movement, have been sentenced to six years, three months in prison.
O.F.K. and his wife F.K. appeared at the final hearing of the trial, the state-run Anadolu news agency reported on Dec. 20.
The couple pleaded not guilty to charges of membership in the Gülen movement, which the government claims is a terrorist group.
Anadolu said O.F.K. has been released under judicial supervision for a year spent in pretrial detention.
The Turkish government accuses the Gülen movement of masterminding a July 15, 2016 coup attempt. The movement denies any involvement. (Turkey Purge)
