Demirtaş and Zeydan announced on Wednesday that they would take part in a hunger strike that was launched by inmates in Edirne Prison on Feb.25.

A statement released on Thursday on behalf of the inmates on the hunger strike in Edirne Prison said the hunger strike continuing since Feb.25 ended after the prison administration promised to resolve the problems in the facility.

Turkey has stepped up political pressure on Kurdish politicians in recent months. In addition to appointment of trustees to the management of scores of municipalities, Turkey has arrested dozens of Kurdish politicians, among them 13 HDP deputies including the party’s co-chairs.
