A total of 372 people have been killed while 1,837 others have been injured in 17 terrorist attacks in Turkey over the past year, according to a story on the Diken news portal on Sunday.
Most of these attacks have been perpetrated by suicide bombers and bomb-laden vehicles. The victims have been civilians as well as police officers and military personnel.
The chain of terrorist attacks began on June 5, 2015 during an election rally of the pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (PKK) in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır, claiming the lives of five people and injuring 400 others.
The bloodiest terror attack in Turkey’s history took place in Ankara on Oct. 10, killing 104 people and injuring hundreds of others.
The latest of these attacks took place on Saturday night in the form of twin bomb attacks in İstanbul’s Beşiktaş neighborhood, which led to the death of 38 people, mostly police officers, and injured 166 others.
