The 2nd High Criminal Court of Turkey’s southeastern Hakkari province ordered the release pending trial of pro-Kurdish Dicle news agency (DİHA) reporter Şemin Soydan in consideration of time served.

The court released Soydan on condition of judicial supervision and adjourned the trial until Jan. 13, 2017.

Soydan was detained on May 12 and arrested on May 14 as part of an investigation into her article on a police operation in Hakkari’s Yüksekova district on charges of “obtaining confidential state documents with the purpose of espionage and publicizing them.”
