At least five people have been wounded in a blast that took place near military barracks in Sancaktepe district, in the Asian side of İstanbul, the NTV reported on Thursday.
The initial cause of the explosion still remains unknown while there is abundance of suspicion that it may be a deliberate bombing attack targeting the military barracks.
The NTV reported that the blast took place while a military shuttle carrying soldiers and military officers was passing through the street.
Earlier this year, a militant group linked with the terrorist Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) attacked military targets in Ankara by launching car bombing attacks.
Turkish officials have not delivered statements over the incident while a number of ambulances have been dispatched to the scene.
