Turkey urges ‘all parties’ to halt Iran-linked hostilities

Turkey on Saturday urged “all parties” to halt hostilities linked to Iran after US and Israeli strikes and Tehran’s retaliation, warning that the escalation risks “the future of our region and global stability,” according to a statement from the foreign ministry.

The ministry said the cycle began with Israel and the United States attacking Iran and expanded when Iran targeted third countries, a reference to retaliatory strikes that hit or threatened Gulf states that host US military assets.

Iran fired missiles toward several Gulf countries on Saturday, according to regional governments and media reports, as air defenses were activated across the Gulf and flights were disrupted.

Turkey, which shares a long border with Iran and hosts key NATO and US linked facilities, has sought to avoid being pulled into a wider regional conflict while keeping channels open to multiple sides.
