Turkey’s foreign visitor arrivals fell 5 pct in July: report

Foreign arrivals in Turkey fell 5 percent in July from a year earlier to 6.97 million, according to official data reported by Reuters on Friday.

The July tally compared with 7.33 million in July 2024 and 7.14 million in July 2023.

From January to July, foreign visitors decreased by 2.1 percent from a year earlier, based on provisional border data compiled by the Turkish police and cited by local media.

Germany was the largest source market in July with 981,005 visitors, followed by Russia with 953,733 and the United Kingdom with 597,155. Poland and the Netherlands completed the top five.

Local media reports said European arrivals decreased by 202,998 from a year earlier in July, a drop of 4.94 percent. Arrivals from the United States fell 21.91 percent, from Iran 18.89 percent and from Greece 14.38 percent, according to the same provisional data.

Tourism industry representatives said price increases in Turkey weighed on demand.
