German Chancellor Olaf Scholz promised aid on Monday after a 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck Turkey and Syria, killing hundreds of people as they slept, Agence France-Presse reported.
“We are following the news of the earthquake in the Turkish-Syrian border region with shock,” Scholz said on Twitter. “Germany will of course send help.”
