Turkish gov’t selling 2 companies seized over Gülen links

Turkey’s Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF) has announced it will sell Sürat Kargo and Sürat Lojistik, private companies that had been transferred to the TMSF due to their alleged affiliation with the Gülen movement, Turkish media reported on Monday.

The call for tenders for the companies, with an estimated value of TL 325 million, was published in the Official Gazette, with interested parties required to submit their bids by July 27.

The tender will be held in Istanbul on July 28, and the two firms will be sold together under what the TMSF refers to as “commercial and economic integrity,” according to the call for bids.

“The Savings Deposit Insurance Fund has been appointed as a trustee to the firm whose trade title is given below under a decision by the Anadolu 10th Criminal Judgeship of Peace in İstanbul,” the TMSF noted.

Numerous private companies were transferred to the TMSF due to their alleged links to the Gülen movement before and after a failed coup in 2016.

The ruling Justice and Development Party and its leader President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan accuse the movement of orchestrating the abortive putsch, although it strongly denies any involvement.
