Turkey establishing centers to monitor COVID-19 patients post recovery

Turkey’s Health Ministry has unveiled plans to establish special centers to monitor individuals who have recovered from COVID-19 to observe the infection’s effects on their overall health.

According to a statement from the ministry, people who have recovered from COVID will be invited to the centers and participate on a voluntary basis.

Centers have initially been established in the Turkish capital city of Ankara and central province of Eskişehir, which were selected as pilot regions. The ministry plans to establish more centers, first in 24 provinces and then across the country.

The centers will for at least two years monitor the state of health and complications people develop following their recovery from COVID-19 and intervene medically when necessary.

According to a chart announced by the Health Ministry on Tuesday, a total of 1,661,191 people have recovered from the virus since the outbreak of the pandemic in Turkey on March 11. The country’s death toll stands at 16,881.
