Turkey has less than 30,000 active coronavirus cases, minister says

Turkey, as of Tuesday, had less than 30,000 active coronavirus cases, according to a chart posted on Twitter by Health Minister Fahrettin Koca.

The number of confirmed cases reached 151,615 with an increase of 1,022 on Tuesday, while the death toll hit 4,199, the chart indicated.

A total of 112,895 people have recovered, according to the figures, with 882 patients in intensive care.

Turkey has conducted 1,675,517 tests so far, and the daily number of tests has been steadily decreasing after totaling than 50,000 in late April. On Tuesday, only 25,382 test results were received.

Meanwhile, wearing a face mask in public spaces has become mandatory in 30 cities.

The government will impose a four-day curfew during Eid al-Fitr, a festival after the holy month of Ramadan.
