Turkey’s confirmed cases of coronavirus increased by 5,138 to reach 52,167 in the last 24 hours, and 95 more people have died, bringing the death toll to 1,101, Health Minister Fahrettin Koca announced on Saturday.

The total number of people who have recovered stands at 2,965, and 33,170 tests were conducted over the last 24 hours, according to a chart Koca tweeted.

“The number of [COVID-19] cases increases to a foreseeable level in line with the rise in the number of tests conducted. This increase is not taking place in the number of patients in intensive care units. We are quicker at diagnosing, and treatment begins early. Turkey has recorded a significant amount of success in the treatment [of COVID-19]. The real success is in protection from the virus,” Koca tweeted.

The chart showed that a total of 340,380 tests have been conducted in Turkey since the first case of coronavirus was confirmed in the country on March 11.

First seen in the Chinese city of Wuhan, COVID-19 has spread rapidly around the world, infecting over 1,761,000 people worldwide and killing more than 107,000. Some 395,000 people have recovered, according to Worldometers.info.
