A total of 577 undocumented migrants were apprehended by authorities in northwestern Turkey on Monday, the state-run Anadolu agency reported, citing security sources.

Three hundred ninety migrants were rounded up in Edirne’s Bosnakoy and Yenikadın districts, said coast guard sources who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

The migrants were from Somalia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Palestine, Iraq, Tunisia and Morocco.

Another 142 illegal migrants were caught in the port city of Çanakkale, of whom 78 were from Afghanistan and 64 were Iraqi nationals.

In the Aegean sea coast 45 undocumented migrants including 13 children were detained as they attempted to cross into Greece.
