Republican People’s Party (CHP) presidential candidate Muharrem İnce explained his plans for the first hundred days of his presidency, if he is elected, during a rally in Turkey’s Hatay province on Tuesday, the T24 news website reported.

“I am sworn in [as president]. I announce my team, accept congratulations. Immediately, during the first week, I will revoke the state of emergency. Secondly, the central bank will regain its independence,” İnce said, adding that he was making these statements for the first time during the election campaign.

He also vowed to form a cabinet that includes ministers representing all walks of life in Turkey while pledging to resolutely continue counterterrorism efforts.

According to a new system of governance Turkey adopted after a narrowly passed referendum last year, the president will possess executive powers, including forming a cabinet with members from outside of parliament, which only has legislative powers.

“I will appoint an ambassador to Syria,” he said, criticizing current President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s Syria policy.

In March 2013, a delegation of CHP deputies had held a meeting with Syrian President Bashar Assad.

İnce also said he would accelerate negotiations with the European Union and visit EU countries to tell them about the “new Turkey.”
