Seventy-three foreign nationals who were detained in the latest operations targeting the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in İstanbul are to be deported from Turkey, local media have reported.
In addition to those foreign nationals, a Turkish citizen was also detained in Saturday’s operations targeting the ISIL network in Turkey.
Last week, Israel issued a terror warning regarding a possible ISIL attack in Turkey.
Police in Mersin province recently captured a would-be suicide bomber who was also an ISIL terrorist.
Turkey has been hit by several ISIL attacks in the last few years including one at İstanbul’s main airport in the summer of 2016 and another at a popular night club on New Year’s Eve.
ISIL allegedly burned alive two Turkish soldiers in a video shared online in December 2016. Turkish authorities have not yet made an statement regarding the fate of the soldiers.
