Dismissed from their government jobs under a post-coup emergency decree, 12 teachers were detained at two private apartments in Manisa province where they were preparing students for university and high school examinations.
The Manisa police carried out operations on 10 locations, among them two apartments that were used as teaching centers, on Tuesday.
The state-run Anadolu news agency said 12 teachers were detained during a class, while alternative media sources including Aktif Haber added that 40 students were also taken into custody as part of the same investigation.
Aktifhaber also said the teachers established these two apartments as prep schools four months ago since they were unable to find employment elsewhere due to government pressure on employers. (Turkey Purge)
