Newly emerged video footage shows Turkish soldiers seizing hundreds of sheep allegedly belonging to Kurdish villagers in southeastern Turkey on the grounds that they lacked a license to engage in animal husbandry.

In the 2.20-minute video, viewed and retweeted hundreds of times on Twitter, a group of heavily armed gendarmes takes the sheep despite the protests of the villagers.

A Kurdish man thought to be the owner of the sheep is heard claiming that he had all the necessary permits and therefore the gendarmes’ actions were “nothing but arbitrary treatment.”

The whereabouts of the sheep is unknown. (Turkey Purge)
