Turkey launches operations against ISIL after its call for attacks on polling stations

Twenty-three suspected members of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) were detained while 10 others were arrested in operations across four Turkish provinces on Thursday.

The operations against ISIL were launched after the terrorist group called for attacks on polling stations during a referendum to be held on April 16 on a constitutional reform package.

The reform package will introduce an executive presidency if approved.

The detentions and arrests took place in Mersin, Gaziantep, Adana and Kırıkkale provinces.

In its monthly magazine, Rumiyah, ISIL said the people who will vote either “yes” or “no” in the referendum will all be infidels, while it called on all its followers to target all polling  stations.

“Raid them, set them on fire and destroy them. Kill both the perverts and all the infidels and non-Muslims who worship them by casting ballots in the referendum,” ISIL said.
