Actor and columnist at Sol newspaper, Orhan Aydın was given suspended prison sentence of 11 months and 20 days for a cartoon he shared on social media.
An İstanbul court handed down the verdict on charges of insulting President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Thursday.
Aydın’s sharing of a drawing by cartoonist Carlos Latuff on Erdoğan’s trip to Cuba was among the evidence of insult.
The court also said Ayıin’s another posting hinted at alleged similarities between Erdoğan and Adolf Hitler. Aydın confirmed the decision on Twitter on Thursday, asking: “Is this justice, ha?”
