President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on Thursday that Turkey will review its ties with the European Union, including a deal to halt illegal migration to the continent via Turkey, after an April 16 referendum that will introduce an executive presidency in the country.

Speaking during an interview with CNNTürk on Thursday, Erdoğan said Turkey’s relations with EU will be reviewed “from A to Z” after the referendum, which will also expand his powers enormously.

Continuing a row with European countries over the cancellation of referendum rallies in the EU, Erdoğan claimed European governments were allowing events for “no” votes while prohibiting Turkish officials from campaigning for “yes” votes.

Turkey’s relations with various European countries have recently become strained due to the cancellation of rallies planned to be attended by Turkish ministers in order to seek the support of Turkish expatriates for the referendum, will expand Erdoğan’s powers and change Turkey’s system of governance.
