Another magnitude 5.3 earthquake jolts Turkey’s northern Aegean coast

Must read

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.3 jolted Turkey’s northern Aegean coast on Sunday, the most recent in a string of tremors hitting the region since last Monday.

The quake was centered beneath the Aegean off the coast of the town of Ayvacık in Turkey’s northwestern Çanakkale province, according to a statement from Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Agency (AFAD).

Two earthquakes with a magnitude of 5.3 hit the same region last Monday and Tuesday, with numerous aftershocks of varying magnitudes.

Last week’s quakes damaged dozens of homes in villages and injured at least five people.

It was not immediately clear whether Sunday’s quake caused any damage or injuries.
