Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on Friday that he is in favor of proposed legislation for future construction on the shores of İstanbul’s Bosphorus Strait.

Speaking during a City Planning Council meeting at the presidential palace in Ankara on Friday, Erdoğan said he is in favor of construction on the shores of the Bosphorus. “But all those ugly structures should be taken down and replaced,” he added.

There are buildings with five, six and seven floors on the beautiful Bosphorus. This is happening because there has been no stance against it. There is now a need for a strict new Bosporus law related to this issue,” Erdoğan said.
