Armored vehicle provided to CHP leader amid assassination threats

Kılıçdaroğlu's convoy was attacked in Artvin in August.

An armored vehicle has been provided to leader of the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who was reportedly warned by Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım about the rising number of assassination threats against him, Turkish media reports said on Tuesday.

CHP Deputy Chairman Tekin Bingöl has confirmed reports about an armored vehicle being provided to Kılıçdaroğlu.

On Aug. 25, Kılıçdaroğlu’s convoy was attacked by the terrorist Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) as it was travelling in the Black Sea province of Artvin. One Turkish soldier was killed and two others were injured in the attack, while Kılıçdaroğlu survived.

The Turkish government back then offered to provide an armored vehicle to Kılıçdaroğlu, but he turned down the offer.
