Turkey’s unemployment rate increased by 1 percent in September over the same period of 2015,reaching 11.3 percent, data released by the Turkish Statistics Institute (TurkStat) on Thursday indicates.
The number of unemployed aged 15 and above rose to 3.52 million in September, 420,000 more than a year earlier.
According to TurkStat, the non-agricultural unemployment rate was 13.7 percent with a 1.3 percent increase in September, while youth unemployment for the 15-24 age group was 19.9 percent with a 1.4 percent increase. The unemployment rate for the 15-64 age group was 11.6 percent with a 1.1 percent increase when compared to September 2015.
