The İstanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office announced on Sunday that 13 people have been detained for suspected involvement in twin bomb attacks on Saturday that claimed the lives of 38 people and injured 166 in İstanbul, while three others have been taken into custody due to their messages on social media about the attacks.

According to the prosecutor’s statement, police have been searching for other suspects over their social media messages in which they praised the terrorist organization following the attacks.

The Kurdistan Freedom Hawks (TAK), an offshoot of the terrorist Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), on Sunday claimed responsibility for twin bomb attacks that hit İstanbul on Saturday evening.

Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım earlier on Sunday said the attacks were without doubt the work of the PKK.

A total of 372 people were killed and 1,837 injured in 17 terrorist attacks in Turkey over the past year, according to a story on the Diken news portal on Sunday.
