One Turkish soldier was killed and five others were injured in clashes with Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) militants in northern Syria, the Turkish military said on Friday.

Three Turkish soldiers were also killed while 10 were injured in an air attack by Syrian regime forces in Aleppo province, according to a statement from the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) on Thursday. The attack took place on the 93rd day of Turkey’s Operation Euphrates Shield.

On Friday, one of the soldiers injured in Thursday’s clashes succumbed to his injuries, bringing the total number of soldiers killed in the past two days to five.

Turkey sent tanks across the border to help Syrian rebels drive ISIL from the border city of Jarabulus in late August in a dramatic escalation of its involvement in the Syrian civil war.
