43,000 trees to be lost with Black Sea power plant construction

The Turkish Ministry of Environment and Urban Planning has approved the construction of a power plant in the touristic Black Sea town of Amasra that will require the felling of 43,000 trees in the area.

According to a story that appeared in the Cumhuriyet daily, the power plant, which will be constructed by the HEMA electricity production company, was approved based on an official evaluation of an environmental impact report (ÇED).
