Only one day after Turkey lost 15 people, including 10 soldiers, to Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) terrorism in the country’s southeastern province of Hakkari, yet another soldier was killed and six others were injured in a PKK attack in Diyarbakır’s Silvan district on Monday.

A group of PKK terrorists attacked a military unit that was making preparations for an operation in a rural area of Silvan, injuring six soldiers.

One of the soldiers succumbed to his injuries as he was being taken to a hospital, while six others were taken to military hospitals in Diyarbakır.

Ten Turkish soldiers and five civilians were killed and 27 others were injured when PKK terrorists attacked a military outpost in the Şemdinli district of Hakkari with a bomb-laden vehicle in Turkey’s Southeast on Sunday.

In the meantime, the pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) released a statement on Monday regarding the Şemdinli attack, saying that the HDP is against all kinds of violence no matter from where it comes.

The party said it is very saddened by the loss of 15 people in Şemdinli, adding that the only way to emerge from the wave of violence is to establish a permanent peace as soon as possible.

In its statement the HDP also noted that it is ready to take on any responsibility for a solution.

Turkish authorities had conducted direct talks with jailed PKK chief Abdullah Öcalan for several years until a truce in effect collapsed in the summer of 2015. Since then, there have been heavy clashes between the PKK and Turkish security forces.

More than 40,000 people, including 5,500 security force members, have been killed in four decades of fighting between the Turkish state and the PKK, which is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US and the EU.
