Thirty-seven Interior Ministry personnel were on Tuesday suspended from their positions over alleged ties to the Gülen movement, which the government accuses of masterminding a July 15 coup attempt.
The latest suspensions added to the already high number of civil servants who have been either sacked or suspended due to Gülen links.
Turkey has detained more than 50,000 people and arrested 32,000 since the coup attempt, while in excess of 100,000 have been either sacked or suspended from state positions.
Turkey survived a military coup attempt on July 15 that killed over 240 people and wounded more than a thousand others.
Immediately after the putsch, the government along with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan pinned the blame on the Gülen movement.
Fethullah Gülen, who inspired the movement, called for an international investigation into the coup attempt, but President Erdoğan — calling the coup attempt “a gift from God” — and the government initiated a widespread purge aimed at cleansing sympathizers of the movement from within state institutions, dehumanizing its popular figures and putting them in custody.
