28 security force members, 100 PKK terrorists killed in 2 days

At least 28 members of the Turkish security forces were killed during clashes between the terrorist Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and the military in Turkey’s Southeast on Friday and Saturday, Al Jazeera Turk reported.

Five soldiers were killed and six were wounded during skirmishes in the Şemdinli district of Hakkari province on Saturday. 7 soldiers died and 16 were injured in conflicts in the Çukurca district of Hakkari on Saturday morning.

One lieutenant, two noncommissioned officers and five special sergeants were killed while eight soldiers were wounded during clashes in Van’s Çaldıran district, the Van Governor’s Office announced on Saturday. Meanwhile, one soldier and three village guards were slain during clashes in Çaldıran on Friday.

Also, eight security force members died during fights between the PKK and security forces in the Çukurca district of Hakkari province, in Çaldıran and in the Dargeçit district of Mardin province on Friday.

Over 100 PKK members were killed during clashes on Saturday, state run Anadolu agency reported.

The PKK demands autonomy for Kurds in Turkey and is recognized as a terrorist organization by both the US and the European Union as well as Turkey.
