Two members of the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) and two village guards were killed in separate attacks by militants of the terrorist Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in Turkey’s Southeast on Tuesday.
One lieutenant and one conscript were slain when PKK terrorists attacked a military team with automatic weapons near the village of Andaç in the Uludere district of Şırnak province.
The two village guards died on Tuesday morning during a military operation launched against PKK terrorists in the Karlıova district of Bingöl province.
In a similar development three soldiers were wounded during a roadside bomb attack by the PKK against a military vehicle in the Şemdinli district of Hakkari on Tuesday.
The PKK is designated as a terrorist organization by the United States and the European Union as well as Turkey. The 32-year-long conflict, which has claimed more than 40,000 lives, halted in March 2013 as part of a settlement process initiated between the PKK and the Turkish government. However, the PKK ended the cease-fire in the summer of 2015.
