Fifteen suspected members of the Marxist-Leninist Communist Party (MLKP) – a terrorist group affiliated with the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) – were detained as part of an anti-terror operation carried out in İstanbul on Wednesday.
The detentions of 15 suspects were carried out after police officers simultaneously raided 24 different addresses in Sultangazi, Arnavutköy, Beyoğlu, Güngören, Başakşehir, Kartal, Eyüp, Maltepe and Üsküdar districts of İstanbul.
It was revealed that detention orders were issued for two of the suspects on various charges.
Special operations unit, riot police and police helicopters also supported the operation against MLKP, which was carried out by Counterterrorism Unit of the İstanbul Police Department.
